About Overlander Ski Club

The Overlander Ski Club is a registered non profit society and has operated in the Kamloops area since 1981.  In the years since, the club has grown to be one of the most active in the province and has hosted numerous events and programs in Kamloops and vicinity.  For the past decade or so, the club has managed the Stake Lake Cross-Country ski trail area, approximately 25 minutes from Kamloops.  Ski usage at Stake Lake has grown tremendously, as has the number and quality of trails.  Annual skier visits are pushing the 14,000 mark and continue to grow.

The Stake Lake Ski area is run almost exclusively by volunteers.  While during the winter months, the club employs two individuals to primarily take care of the ticket booth, the rest of the work at Stake Lake is done by volunteers.  The snow grooming, track setting, clearing of trails, maintenance of the lodge and equipment, organization of events, ski patrolling and much more is done by a dedicated and enthusiastic groups of volunteers.  The club is always looking for more help.  If you want to get involved, please contact one of the club executive, or send and email to info@overlanderskiclub.com

The club is run by an Executive which meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in Heritage House, Riverside Park.  All members are welcome to attend and take part in the meetings.  There are a number of sub committees of the club, including: Trails, Coaching, Social and Competitions.  The Executive currently has vacant positions for Vice President.  Anybody who would like to take a more active part in the running of the club is welcome to come along to a meeting or talk to a member of the Executive.

During the 2001/02 season, a five year plan (2007 Ski Plan) was developed. One of the deficiencies identified in the 2007 plan, was a Master Site Plan, which was subsequently developed during 2002.  At a special club meeting in April 2003, the Master Plan was accepted in principle.
